ICTCBL301 – Install and terminate Structured Cabling Cat 5 and Cat 6 and Beyond

ICTCBL303 – Install and terminate Coaxial Cabling

Our Structured Cabling course covers work with CAT 5, CAT 6, and beyond, on domestic or commercial premises. The course is designed so participants can prepare and achieve the required skills and knowledge to competently comply with the Australian Standard (AS/CA S009:2020), to place, secure, and terminate structured cabling for indoor and outdoor installations and certify the installation within a domestic, commercial or industrial client’s premises.

The course applies to technical staff who install, terminate, and certify structured cabling installations for communications applications including digital and analogue, telephony, data, video, digital broadcasting, computer networks, local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), and multimedia.

Our Coaxial Cabling course covers and is designed to allow participants to achieve the required skills and knowledge, in a real-time customer environment, to competently install‚ terminate, and test coaxial cabling, on domestic or commercial premises on such communications application works, inclusive, but not limited to:
– digital and analog
– telephony
– data and video
– digital broadcasting
– computer networks
– local area networks (LAN)
– wide area networks (WAN)
– multimedia

The course also applies to technical staff who install and terminate coaxial cable for new installations, upgrades, or the maintenance of existing networks in domestic, commercial, and industrial installations on a client’s premises.

The Structured Cabling Course is also beneficial for security technicians who install structured cables for security cameras or alarm systems.

It is recommended that participants already hold or have completed the Open Registration course before attending this course.

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • To install cabling to support an integrated voice and data system.
  •  To identify the components of an integrated voice and data system
  • To test the installation correctly using the correct test equipment and interpret the results of tests.
  • To terminate UTP cables correctly
  • To identify and list the component of a structured cabling system
  • To identify different types of UTP & STP cable
  • describe the construction of coaxial cable
  • identify and list the component parts of coaxial cable
  • terminate coaxial connectors correctly
  • test the terminated coaxial cable safely and accurately
  • identify and correctly use coaxial termination tools
  • identify the various types of coaxial cabling system

On successful completion of the course and assessment requirements, participants will be issued a Statement of Attainment in accordance with the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and the Standards for Registered Training Organisations (RTOs).
