Course Overview

Certificate III in Telecommunications Technology has been designed for individuals who require formal training and assessment in the telecommunications industry including people working in the industry and looking to upskill or cross-skill.

This qualification is for telecommunications technology operators who assess installation requirements, plan and perform installations, test installed equipment, and fault-find when issues arise with installed equipment.

Telecommunications technology operators may work on:

  • customer cabling networks
  • digital reception technology
  • optical networks
  • premises cabling
  • radio communications
  • rigging, which also involves installing and maintaining radio antennas on high structures such as radio towers, and building and mounting sections of radio
  • masts for a complete radio structure
  • telecommunications networking
  • wireless networks.

On successful completion of all required units, a student will be issued with a qualification certificate and transcript of results. If a student does not complete all units required, they will be issued with a statement of attainment.

ICTWHS204 Follow Work Health and Safety and ICTTEN208 Use electrical skills when working with telecommunications networks are pre-requisite units of competency for both, ICTCBL246 Install, maintain and modify customer premises communications cabling: ACMA Restricted Rule and ICTCBL247 Install, maintain and modify customer premises communications cabling: ACMA Open Rule

ICTWHS204 Follow Work Health and Safety is a prerequisite unit of ICTBWN307 Use optical measuring instruments

ICTBWN307 Use optical measuring instruments is a prerequisite unit of ICTBWN308 Work safely on live optical fibre installations
