How do I get an Open Cabling Licence?

After undertaking the requisite training course, you must contact a cabling registrar (eg: TITAB, ARCS) and complete the registration process to obtain your license.

You will require:

  • 360 hours of work experience with evidence of one of the following
    – An experience statement signed by a Registered Cabler or
    – A copy of your Electrical Licence or
    – A statutory declaration detailing your experience
  • A copy of the Official Statement of attainment issued by an RTO
  • OHS/WHS requirement

How do I enrol for the course/what is the enrolment process?

There are 3 ways for you to enrol into courses.

  1. Online
  2. Over the phone
  3. Can go directly to any of our MILCOM office branches

How do I qualify for government funding?

As each state has different eligibility criteria, we ask you to call 1300 369 320 to speak to one of our student coordinator’s to check your eligibility.

Do you offer online courses?

Milcom is renowned for its emphasis on hands-on experience and practical application and to provide quality and compliant training, all our courses are conducted face-to-face.

Is there any pre-requisite to do Open Registration Course?

On Successful completion, individuals will receive a statement of attainment for the following 4 units

  • ICTWHS204 Follow work health and safety and environmental policy and procedures
  • ICTTEN208 Use electrical skills in telecommunications work
  • ICTCBL246 Install, maintain, and modify customer premises communications cabling: ACMA Restricted Rule
  • ICTCBL247 Install, maintain, and modify customer premises communications cabling: ACMA Open Rule

Individuals will only be competent in ICTCBL246 & ICTCBL247 only after successful completion of their pre-requisite units ICTWHS204 and ICTTEN208.

How long does it take to get my certificate (after course completion)?

Certificates are issued out via email and are issued out as quickly as possible, however we do ask you to allow up to 10 business days from the day after your class ends.

Do you have weekend or evening classes?

We do offer weekend classes at all our of facilities.

We only offer evening classes for group bookings with a minimum of 6 students.

What courses do I need to work in the Telecommunication Industry?

The Telecommunications industry encompasses a variety of careers, from installing and maintaining equipment, selling services to customers and designing service networks. Therefore, what course an individual will need will vary from person to person.

It is a legal requirement, to do any customer premises cabling work, to have your open registration and suggest this is the best starting point to enter the industry.
