ACT Funding (ACTFA)

Milcom is an ACT Funding Agreement (ACTFA) approved provider and is eligible to access ACT Government funding to deliver subsidised training in accordance with ACT funding arrangements.

User Choice Funding: For Australian Apprenticeships
Additional Funding: For students requiring literacy, numeracy, mentoring, or interpreter services
Interstate Training Assistance: For apprentices required to travel interstate

To access ACT funding, you must:
– Meet residency and program-specific requirements
– Provide a USI
– Complete an LLN assessment if required

Final eligibility is assessed during enrolment and based on supporting documentation.

Information regarding tuition fees applicable under ACT-funding

The ACT Qualifications Register identifies qualifications and associated funding amounts available to Registered Training Organisations approved to access User Choice funding for the delivery of Australian Apprenticeships qualifications in the ACT.

Payroll Tax Exemption

Under the Payroll Tax Act 1987 (ACT), employers may be eligible for a payroll tax exemption for wages paid or payable to apprentices in the ACT. This exemption is currently the primary financial incentive available to employers of apprentices in the ACT.

Additional funding to support the training of Australian Apprentices may be available through Skills Canberra, within the ACT Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate.

This support may be provided to assist apprentices who:
• Have learning difficulties, or
• Require additional support services, including but not limited to:
o Literacy and numeracy assistance
o Auslan or interpreter services
o Mentoring or other specialist support

Applications for this funding must be made in writing by the RTO to Skills Canberra and are assessed on a case-by-case basis, subject to approval.

Travel and accommodation assistance may be available for apprentices who are required to undertake training interstate, where no ACT-based RTO is approved to deliver the required qualification or training.

The ACT Building and Construction Industry Training Fund Authority administers a training levy on building and construction work undertaken in the ACT. Funds collected are used to:
• Support the up-skilling and cross-skilling of workers in the building and construction industry
• Support the training of entry-level Australian Apprentices in building and construction trades
