Optical fibre cable (popular in the trade as fibre optic cable) is long but thin strands( diameter of less than a human hair). We arrange them in bundles called optical cables, widely used today to transmit light signals over long distances. It acts as a transmission medium ( in pipe form) to carry light signals at high speed over a long distance,
In the modern era of the internet, fibre optic cable is the best solution for cabling solutions. A typical fibre optic cable contains a few to hundreds of optical fibers within a plastic casing and is much more efficient and reliable than a conventional electric cable. But it calls for specialized training and knowledge for the cabling technicians from the career perspective.
Key Points Of Optical Fibre Cabling Course
At MILCOM, we impart knowledge to candidates about Optical fibre cable and the art of cabling. It includes identifying different types of optical fibre cable and how optical cable and fibre work and gives them hands-on training in safe handling procedures, installation and termination, splicing and jointing methods. We conduct the activity with real-time test equipment to guide them through testing and interpreting results.
This training involves the skills and knowledge required to install, test and terminate optical fibre cable on customer premises for communications applications using a range of terminations that may include direct termination, fusion splicing and mechanical splicing.
It applies to technical staff who place, secure and terminate optical fibre cable in new installations and upgrades or maintain existing networks in domestic, commercial and industrial installations. Communications applications include digital and analog, telephony, data, video, digital broadcasting, computer networks, local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs) and multimedia.
Deal With Different Forms of Fibre Optic Cable
This course is designed for you to achieve the required skills and knowledge to competently conduct optical fibre cabling. You will be able to identify the different forms of fibre optic cable, gain an understanding of the propagation of light through the fibre and understand the various connection and splicing methods of optical fibre and where they are used in installations throughout the industry. Completion of this course will allow you to apply for the Optical Fibre Internal Cabling Endorsement on your Open Registration Licence. This Endorsement covers work with optical fibre on domestic or commercial premises. It is recommended that you already hold the Open Registration Licence or have completed the Open Registration course before attending this course.
Duration and delivery mode:Â This course will be delivered in 2 face-to-face full day training sessions at one of the MILCOM training centres or at a mutually convenient and suitable location, for a sufficiently large group of participants.
