Course Description:
This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply specialised knowledge and skills, together with experience in leadership and management, across a range of enterprise and industry contexts. Individuals at this level use initiative and judgement to plan and implement a range of leadership and management functions, with accountability for personal and team outcomes within broad parameters. They use cognitive and communication skills to identify, analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources and transfer their knowledge to others, and creative or conceptual skills to express ideas and perspectives or respond to complex problems.

Once students have successfully completed BSB61015 Advanced Diploma of Leadership and Management, they can apply for various roles across management positions that have responsibility for the work of other staff and lead teams.
The further study pathways available to students who undertake this qualification include:
Graduate Diploma, other Advanced Diploma, Diploma or Degree programs in related fields such as business, management, marketing, and communications.

Course Duration
The duration for this program is 52 weeks including:
8 weeks of holiday time
Volume of Learning
Milcom Institute has structured this program to include 880 hours of face-to-face delivery as well as 440 hours of homework (self-directed learning) and unit assessment over 44 weeks during (not including term breaks). From self-study/assessment hours (unsupervised) described above in the table, it is anticipated that about 30% of the time period will be dedicated for unit assessments and balance for discussion and activities as contained in the student workbook. E.g. for the unit of competency with 30 self-study/assessment hours, 10 hours are for assessment, while 20 hours for discussion and other activities; for the unit of competency with 50 self-study/assessment hours, 15 hours are for assessment, while 35 hours for discussion and other activities.
Assessment hours are outside the face-to-face classroom delivery hours and students or group of students are required to arrange a suitable and mutually agreed time with their respective assessor after the completion of unit delivery to complete any observation or role-play or any other related group activity which carries weightage towards competency in the unit. The arrangement for the related assessment activity must be within 7 days of completion of unit delivery.
All units of competencies contained in this qualification will be delivered as standalone units. The total volume of learning is 1320 hours over 52 weeks period.

Course delivery
A delivery mode implemented includes face to face classroom based training and training in simulated work environment. Training will take place at the Milcom Institute facility at Construction Training Centre, Ian Barclay Building (Room 1.9) 460 – 492 Beaudesert Road, Salisbury QLD 4107. The following techniques are implemented during face to face delivery depending on the subject matter: trainer presentations and demonstrations, power point presentations, individual tasks, case studies, research, role plays, practical demonstrations and group work.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer (CT)
Milcom Institute will offer Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer (CT) to all eligible students through the enrolment process and will provide an application kit for RPL applicants. Milcom Institute has documented policies and procedures for these processes and students are provided details of how to apply for RPL or Credit Transfer through the enrolment process.
