Learning Outcomes

After successfully completing this course, you will be able to:

Course Duration and Delivery Method

This qualification is delivered as blended learning with face-to-face sessions held at the MILCOM training centre over 12 months (not including holiday breaks). Learners will work through course material with a trainer and complete assessments during class and during non-class allocated time. Classes may be scheduled at alternative, mutually convenient and suitable locations and can be contextualised for a sufficiently large groups of participants.
You will be required to attend a Milcom Institute’s training rooms for a total of 21 days. The attendance is in the following blocks:

Block 1 - Smart Wired 4 days
Block 2 - IP 3 days
Block 4 - KNX 5 days
Block 5 - BICSI Telecommunications Project Management 5 days
Block 6 - Assessment preparation and assessment 4 days

Pre-requisite

Whilst there are no pre-requisites under the approved training package for this course, it is strongly recommended that anyone applying for the course has completed:

  • ICTCBL2136B Install, maintain and modify customer premises communications cabling: ACMA Restricted Rule (where ACMA Restricted Registration is necessary)
  • ICTCBL2137B Install, maintain and modify customer premises communications cabling: ACMA Open Rule
  • ICTCBL3009B Install, terminate and certify structured cabling installation
  • ICTCBL3011B Install and terminate coaxial cable OR Be a licenced electrician

KNX accreditation – no pre-requisite
BICSI Registered Telecommunications Project Manager (RTPM) accreditation – for students intending to sit for the BICSI
RTPM exam, they must comply with the following pre requisite:

BICSI REQUIREMENT

To sit for the RTPM exam, you must first have:

A minimum of two years of approved and verifiable experience in Project Management, such as planning, execution, and closing of any project. The PM experience does not have to be directly related to telecommunications, but telecommunications experience is a plus. Experience must be within the last six years.

Fees

Student enrolment fee is
$2,000 for students eligible to access funding form the Victorian State Government Training Guarantee, or $8,500 for all other students.

For Students wishing to undertake the BICSI RTPM assessment at the completion of the course, there is an additional fee of $385 and will need to complete the BICSI RTPM application form.
