The CPP20307 Certificate II in Technical Security reflects the role of an operator in the security industry who can apply a broad range of competencies in a varied work context from installation to operation of security equipment and products. The Security cabling at the customer premises must be carried out according to requirements of the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) and relevant industry registration bodies, and in line with the specifications of the access network owner. This qualification prepares an individual for entry to the industry. Before you can apply for your Open Registration Licence, you will need to demonstrate you have completed 360 hours of relevant cabling experience, under supervision of a registered cabler.

Learning Outcomes

After completion of this course and all assessments, you will be issued with the Nationally Recognised Qualification CPP20307 Certificate II in Technical Security.

After successfully completing this course, you will be able to:

  • install, terminate and test cabling according to ACMA Technical Standards
  • install, program and test security equipment and systems and conduct routine maintenance
  • coordinate a quality security service to clients, including estimates and quotes
  • install, maintain, configure and service CCTV and audio systems
  • configure a security system
  • identify and configure a security system

The CPP20307 Certificate II in Technical Security requires 8 units (7 Core and 1 Elective):

CPPSEC2001A Communicate effectively in the security industry
CPPSEC2002A Follow workplace safety procedures in the security industry
CPPSEC2003B Work effectively in the security industry
CPPSEC2020A Provide technical security services to clients
CPPSEC2021A Install security equipment and systems
CPPSEC2026A Perform routine maintenance on security equipment and system
ICTCBL2136A Install, maintain and modify customer premises communication cabling: ACA Restricted Rule
ELECTIVES
CPPSEC2023A Install CCTV equipment and system
Credit Transfer and RPL offered for the eligible learners.

Course Duration

This qualification is delivered face-to- face at the MILCOM training centre over 36 weeks (not including holiday breaks).

Mode of delivery

Learners will work through course material with a trainer and complete assessments during class and during non-class allocated time. Classes may be scheduled at alternative, mutually convenient and suitable locations and contextualised for a sufficiently large group of participants. MILCOM ensures to satisfy the requirement of amount of learning and AQF volume of learning for this course which includes all teaching, learning and assessment activities that are required to be undertaken by the learner to achieve the learning outcomes

Entry Requirements

There are no entry requirements for this qualification. Applicant will be required to successfully complete an ACSF language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) assessment.
