NBN Skill 9, 29 Fibre Inspection & Cleaning, Fibre hygiene processes & basic testing to Swap out DPU

The course is designed for copper cable jointers, fibre optic jointers or contractor communications technicians seeking to perform fibre hygiene and testing skills needed to install, maintain or swap out a DPU.
 
Description 
This course covers the processes and activities required to Provide fibre inspection + cleaning and the testing skills needed to install or swap out a DPU.

On completion of this program, participants will be able to:

• Fibre Basics · provides students with an overview of the NBN fibre network architecture · fibre safety and handling · recognising cable and connector types used for DPU integration · Inspection and cleaning of fibre connect
• Testing · Testing to NBN specifications · Use network test equipment i.e. PON power meter, OTDR and visible light source
• FTTC Fibre skills relevant to swapping out a DPU

• Unit of Competency upto 28/02/2021: - ICTTEN311 Inspect, clean and handle optical fibre cable and connectors
• Unit of Competency from 01/03/2021 Onward: ICTTEN318 - Inspect, clean and handle optical fibre cable and connectors
• Certificate of Completion for nbn002-Fibre hygiene and testing

Assessments
At the completion of each training module or unit, students will undergo an assessment process to determine their knowledge and skill capability. Knowledge Assessments must be completed with a 100% pass mark and Skills Assessment will require a satisfactory level of performance to be assessed as satisfactory.

Students
Students attending training must have available:

• Proof of identity
• Suitable clothing and footwear (no singlets, shorts or thongs). Students not suitably attired will not be able to participate in the training
• Personal enable credentials

On successful completion, the student can gain enable accreditation for skill 9 & 29
